SAHRC Southern Arizona Harm Reduction Collective is Tucson Arizona’s newest peer driven syringe access program. It is operated entirely by peer volunteers and 100% funded by donations. SAHRC will meet peers where they are and teach them the skills to provide outreach and advocacy as well as educating others through Overdose & HIV/Hep C prevention. SAHRC understands that this current opioid crisis not only affects the population that uses opiates but their families & communities, and will provide educational trainings Harm Reduction 101 to family members & friends of injection drug users. SAHRC will provide direct services for HIV & Hep C rapid testing / linkage to care. In addition to providing clean syringes to stop the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C, we help people make informed choices about their physical & mental health. We provide referrals to services for housing, and drug treatment advocacy. We also directly provide overdose prevention kits containing naloxone (Narcan), condom kits, and wound care kits. We also collect used sharps to help keep our communities in Southern Arizona safe.
